Well, last Monday I left my home of 26 years to move to a place I have only visited twice. My husband and I along with a U-Haul driven by my in-laws, trekked from Charlotte to Detroit. After five bathroom breaks, one requisite fast food meal, a couple of jam sessions, a speeding ticket, and a bucket of tears, we arrived in our new home.
I decided this new stage of life is worthy of documentation. I want to share all that the Lord is teaching me with the friends and family I left behind in North Carolina in addition to those I will live life with here in Michigan. If you know me, you know my heart for ministry. This is the best possible platform for me to minister to women in two states (or more!) at the same time.
Why the name?
Yesterday was our first Sunday at our new church, Highland Park Baptist. Our pastor, Brent Slater, preached a message out of Zechariah. Brent preached that we cannot accept Christ as our Savior without accepting His transformational power in our lives. We must be prepared to give up our desires, our future, everything we are to Christ. We often want salvation without transformation. But God promises so much more!
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your king is coming to you;
righteous and having salvation is he,
humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim
and the war horse from Jerusalem;
and the battle bow shall be cut off,
and he shall speak peace to the nations;
his rule shall be from sea to sea,
and from the River to the ends of the earth.
As for you also, because of the blood of my covenant with you,
I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit.
Return to your stronghold, O prisoners of hope;
today I declare that I will restore to you double.
Zechariah 9:9-12
Because of the salvation Christ has given us through His blood, we have been transformed from prisoners to sin to prisoners of hope. I want to live my life as a prisoner of hope. This includes doing whatever the Lord calls me to do, whether thats staying in Michigan or moving back home to North Carolina. I desire Christ as Savior and as Lord of my life.
I'm so excited for this new season of life and I'm glad I get to share it with you. I pray this blog provides encouragement, edification and maybe even a few laughs.
Humbly,
Megan
